More Stephen King horror hits the home front.
Children of the Corn–the reworked reboot of the 1984 film based on the horror master’s 1977 short story–hit the big screen earlier this month, and will now come home on digital March 21, before arriving on Blu-ray May 9–with deleted scenes included on the disc.
The R-rated remake–from writer/director Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium)–has “almost nothing to do” with the original adaptation, according to producer Lucas Foster. “We went back to the story,” he said, “and free-associated from there.”
The film–starring Kate Moyer, Elena Kampouris, Callan Murphy and Bruce Spence–follows 12-year-old Eden (Moyer), who is “possessed by a spirit in a dying Nebraska cornfield,” according to the synopsis.
Eden then recruits other children in the small town “to go on a bloody rampage and kill the adults and anyone else who opposes them.” The town’s only hope for survival is “a bright high school student who won’t go along with them.”
