Last week, federal officials took a prison conditions tour at Florida’s Lowell Correctional, a notorious female prison, two years after a report called out rampant sexual abuse in the facility, Mitch Perry reports for the Florida Phoenix. Advocates are waiting to hear findings from officials who visited Lowell CI, but don’t have high hopes: just this year, two lawsuits were filed in state and federal court alleging ongoing sexual abuse by corrections officers at the facility. Both cases are currently in discovery.
