Sweet Tooth
Netflix has announced an April 27th premiere date for the second season of its Emmy-winning fantasy drama “Sweet Tooth” based on Jeff Lemire’s acclaimed comic. Jim Mickle serves as showrunner, executive producer, writer and director.
In the new season, the Last Men holds Gus and the other hybrids captive and Gus has to find his strength in order to save his friends and discover the secrets of the Great Crumble. [Source: Netflix]
The Key Man
“The Green King” and “Lion” star Dev Patel is set to headline and executive produce the limited series “The Key Man” telling the story of disgraced financier Arif Naqvi for Miramax Television.
Patel plays the charismatic Pakistani businessman who was the founder of Dubai-based private-equity firm Abraaj. He built a billion-dollar investment empire which came crashing down and his false promises had severe consequences.
Patel, Scott Delman and Florence Sloan executive produce the project which is based on the bestseller by Simon Clark and Will Louch. [Source: Deadline]
The Betoota Advocate
Paramount+ has announced the original satirical series “The Betoota Advocate Presents” which will cover Australia’s most polarising news stories in the signature style of the country’s “oldest and favourite newspaper”.
The Betoota Advocate is the Aussie equivalent of The Onion (albeit with more of a political focus) and now incorporates a news site, a series of books, a podcast, and merchandise that includes a range of beers. It has amassed nearly two million followers across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The outlet’s editor-at-large Errol Parker and editor Clancy Overall are behind the new series which Andrew Watson and Tom Rohr are directing and also executive producing for Warner Bros. Australia. Sophia Mogford also executive produces. [Source: IF Magazine]
Raid: Call of the Arbiter
Plarium Games’ fantasy RPG mobile & desktop title “Raid: Shadow Legends” is coming to TV with a limited ten-episode animated series to be released weekly on YouTube beginning May 18th. Eric Rollman produces and Jay Oliva serves as showrunner.
“Raid: Call of the Arbiter” centers on the Arbiter, an ancient guardian who is attempting to return to and revive the land known as Teleria, which has seemingly been abandoned by its gods and is marred in conflict. [Source: THR]
