Vanessa Hudgens will reprise her role as weapons expert Kelly in the fourth “Bad Boys” film with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence at Sony Pictures.
Pre-production is underway with filming to begin next month in Atlanta. Story specifics are under wraps, but the project has been fast tracked following its announcement in February.
Hudgens first appeared in the role in 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life,” with Kelly one of the members of the AMMO team run by Paola Nunez’s character and partnered with former “Vikings” star Alexander Ludwig and “Riverdale” alum Charles Melton.
It’s not clear if any of those other three will return at this point, but it’s a good possibility if Hudgens is back as it suggests the AMMO team returns in some form. The third film ended with Mike and Marcus taking charge of the team.
That third film’s directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are returning to direct from a script by Chris Bremner. Said third film pulled in $426.5 million at the worldwide box office from a $90 million budget – the best of the franchise to date and the fourth highest grossing film of 2020.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman produce whilst Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman and Jon Mone are executive producers.
